A Path to the King: 5-Day Devotional Journey

-Pastor Thyris Banks
Day 1: The One Door to God's Presence
Reading: John 14:1-6
Devotional: Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Just as the tabernacle had only one entrance, there is only one path to God—through Jesus Christ. Many voices today claim multiple paths lead to God, but Scripture is clear. This isn't exclusivity born of arrogance, but of divine design. God made the way accessible to all who would come, regardless of background, race, or past failures. The question isn't whether you're worthy to enter, but whether you'll accept the invitation. Today, thank God for making a way through Jesus, and if you haven't yet, step through that door.

Day 2: Washed and Made Clean
Reading: Titus 3:3-7
Devotional: Before the priests could serve in the tabernacle, they had to wash at the bronze laver. Salvation isn't just about being forgiven; it's about being transformed. God doesn't just cover your sin—He cleanses you through His Word and Spirit. The washing of regeneration means you're not the same person you were before Christ. Old things pass away; all things become new. This isn't a one-time event but a daily renewal. As you read Scripture, let God's Word wash over you, cleansing your mind from worldly thinking. Spend time today allowing God's truth to refresh and renew your perspective on who you are in Christ.

Day 3: From Service to Intimacy
Reading: Psalm 27:4-8
Devotional: The holy place was where priests served daily—tending the lampstand, replacing the showbread, offering incense. But service wasn't the destination; it was preparation for intimacy. Many believers stop at service, faithfully attending church and volunteering, yet never pressing into God's presence. David's one desire was to dwell in God's house, to behold His beauty. Are you serving without encountering? God invites you beyond activity into intimacy. Prayer isn't just petition; it's communion. Worship isn't performance; it's connection. Today, move past doing things for God and simply be with God. Sit quietly in His presence and let Him reveal Himself to you.

Day 4: The Torn Veil—Access Granted
Reading: Hebrews 10:19-25
Devotional: When Jesus died, the veil separating the Holy of Holies tore from top to bottom. God Himself removed the barrier. You no longer need a human mediator or annual ritual. Through Christ's blood, you have boldness to enter God's presence anytime. This is staggering grace—the King of Glory invites you into His throne room not as a servant cowering at the door, but as a beloved child. Don't stand at a distance wondering if you're welcome. The torn veil declares you are. Come boldly, not arrogantly, but confidently trusting in Jesus' finished work. Today, approach God's throne with the assurance that you belong there because of Christ.

Day 5: Dwelling in His Presence
Reading: Psalm 91:1-16
Devotional: "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Dwelling isn't visiting; it's residing. God doesn't want you to pop in occasionally—He invites you to live in His presence. In that place of intimacy, you find refuge, protection, and strength for every trial. The journey through the tabernacle wasn't meant to end; it was meant to lead you to permanent residence with God. Whatever you're facing today—sickness, financial pressure, relational pain—your dwelling place is secure. A thousand may fall at your side, but you abide in Him. Make His presence your home, and watch Him bring you through victoriously.

As you complete this devotional journey, remember: you're not just learning about the tabernacle; you're walking the path to the King. Keep pressing forward into deeper intimacy with God.
